The latest requirements of the building code of australia (bca 2007) require minimum levels of thermal insulation between floors in various classes of construction.
This relates to multi-level, multiple sole-occupancy units, (multi-level apartment buildings (bca 2007, class-2 construction).
In bca 2007, class-2 construction, the thermal insulation value is dependant on the climate zone region, as per the following: -
| Zone 1> zone 5 |
East Sydney |
Nil |
| Zone 6 & zone 7 |
West Sydney/Melbourne/Tasmania |
R-1.0 |
| Zone 8 |
The Alps |
R-2.5 |
The Ezidek suspended floor system which is rated at r-3.5 easily satisfies the ‘above’ provisions of the bca 2007.
