The latest requirements of the building code of australia (bca 2007) require the maximum values for the “smoke developed index”, between floors in various classes of construction.

This relates to multi-level, multiple sole-occupancy units, (multi-level apartment buildings (bca 2007, class-2 construction).

Class-2 construction, in bca 2007, the ‘above’ maximum values are, as per the following: -

  • Smoke developed index = 5 (not more than)
